— Dealing With Anxiety

What To do When You Are Anxious

Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Knowing this alone is enough to put your mind at rest and cuddle you to sleep. Well, you might say it was that easy. I sincerely understand, but God understands much more than I do, and this is why He gives the assuring word that when you take everything to Him in prayer, there’s a peace that surpasses all understanding and that automatically becomes yours.

A hymn by Joseph Scriven ‘pray without ceasing’ later recomposed ‘what a friend we have in Jesus.’ He wrote this hymn to his mother, who was terribly ill, to encourage her to keep praying. Sincerely and truthfully, when it seems you’re losing it all, pray like never before. Your hope and strength come in the place of prayer. One fascinating thing about Jesus is prayer. When he was to be betrayed that night, he went into the garden of Gethsemane to pray.

Do you know that he prayed the same prayer three times and that his sweat was as thick as blood? This is to show us the extent to which he believed in prayer.

Perhaps you’re losing it due to grief for a loved one.

Much more comfort awaits you in the Holy Spirit; all you need to do is ask him to come into your life.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them who are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God. – 2 Corinthians 1: 3 – 4.
