— We can agree that favor has a role to play in life, especially when you've tried and tried all to no avail.

Why Talent May Not Be Enough

Someone rightly said, Favor may take you to the top, but without character, you cannot remain at the top. We can agree that favor has a role to play in life, especially when you’ve tried and tried all to no avail.

The next thing you’re likely to pray for is a favor. Over the years, meeting with various types of people, I have come to know that talent is good, as is having innate abilities and special gifts.

However, having any of the aforementioned can never be enough without having something additional to offer.

For instance, an artist who has never had the opportunity to perform outside the country was taken to a neighboring country only to discover that there was a hidden truth about the artist that led to disqualification. This is someone who is talented but missed an opportunity due to dishonesty. What about a man who was about to be rewarded with a visa for a job well done, only to discover that he, who claimed to be single, was married with children? His company was disappointed.

According to them, they would have offered his family a visa if they had known the truth about his status. Yes, he was talented and hard-working, but that wasn’t enough to overlook his dishonesty. You may be wondering what you need to add to your talent.

I know you can write, sing, paint, play football, drum, and display other beautiful talents you have. It is important, however, to know that if you possess any of these without love, humility, discipline, self-control, honesty, and loyalty, you are incomplete.

Being identified or tagged with just abilities isn’t enough and shouldn’t be the only recognizable thing about us.

Let talent not only define you; add something unique to yourself, and you’d be one in a billion.
